The importance of follow-up and monitoring
support is to allow a safety net to be in place for
anyone affected by trauma or loss. This strategy enables
the victim to have a stable reassured base to assist
processing the inherently unpredictable emotional outpouring,
which typically occurs in the aftermath of crisis.
Unfortunately, people sometimes respond
with withdrawn behavioural patterns. It is recommended
that monitoring support via management and professional
contact (via phone or face-to-face) be adopted as a
routine procedure. Once follow-up procedures have been
implemented all clients agree to reactivate further
psychological support via their organization or in an
emergency via Clear View Psychology, if required.
Follow-up and monitoring procedures
are inherently tailored according to the intensity and
duration of a significant life crisis point. This can
further be modified after assessing an individuals ability
to cope and an organizations responsiveness to such
unfortunate events.
It is recommended that any trauma
follow-up procedures rely upon a three-way support network
between the worker (client), the organisational structure
(supervisor, management) and Clear View Psychology Services
at all times.
